Ages 9 & Up! Visit the Lake Hiawatha Branch to learn all about secret writing tricks with Tricky Chopsticks author Sylvia Chen! She'll will share secret writing tricks she used in Tricky Chopsticks including fun character names, Chinese-derived onomatopoeia, and literary devices like alliteration/assonance/consonance to help inspire kids for their own writing. We will then discuss creative prompts and fill out fun worksheets to help kids practice their own secret writing tricks. Participants are welcome to bring in-progress stories to revise based on the session material, and share with the author near the end of the session as time allows.
Kids are welcome to bring their copy of Tricky Chopsticks for Sylvia to sign!
Registration is required and begins on Monday, 10/27 @ 6:00 PM.
