Self portraits can be traced back to ancient times, though they become more prevalent in the early Renaissance period. This lecture explores several famous artists' self portraits as we learn, and consider: What does an artist's self portrait say about the time they lived in, the style they painted in, and , most importantly, how they viewed themselves.
Mallory Mortillaro serves as the Curator of Collections for the Hartley Dodge Foundation in Madison, N.J. In addition, Mallory is an art historian and educator. She has ten years of teaching experience and has worked on various art research projects for museums and organizations in the New York metropolitan area. She studied at Drew University. Mallory resides in New Jersey with her husband and daughter.
